Description
In pruning my gallery, I accidentally deleted a pic I wanted. Since this was my first upload, I decided to repost it. It's my avatar, without the borders.
This was drawn in the 80's. I don't remember who I did this for, but I used 3 pencils and rubbed it over and over to get a 'soft' feel. Forgive the graininess of the scan---it was a poor scan.
Thank you for your comments, love and critiques
They're all deeply appreciated.
Have a fine weekend,
Mark

Mark, I do remember this first upload very well and am so glad you decided to add it to your gallery once again. This lovely drawing is a perfect representation of you and what your gallery stands for, so it is little wonder why you selected it for your avatar. The fine detailing throughout as well as the obvious amount of love and care that went into creating this work of art says it all.

I like this just as much as I did originally. It is a delight!

I too recall this. I have never forgotten it actually. I love the graininess. It appears to be a rough paper. Seems more like pastel or conte. very tactile.

So, this is the true enlarged image of your avatar. I don't recall ever having seen it before. It has such an ephemeral feeling about it, done in your usual dedicated style of meticulous sketching, Mark. Drawn on watercolor paper? I still can't fully remember the types of paper art media that I was so familiar with decades ago.

It looks JUST like you! Well ... missing the cable-knit sweater ... but in general, it's an excellent likeness. :)

OH yes, your beautiful brush drawing. It is a big must in your gallery. I Love the grainy look and the shiny metal. The hairs look so real. It is a masterpiece and it sure belongs to your lovely gallery :-))) I am glad you reposted it :)

I am very glad because you posted again this image of your avatar!! I cannot imagine another avatar for you, Mark, lol and I cannot imagine your gallery without him too because IT IS SO YOU!! And this one, it is standing and STRONG, like a promise of all Your Art still to come, and to me, he looks like a self portrait:) I can imagine each gesture of yours, while doing this. I adore the brown and the silver reflexes and the subtlety of the hair! … it is a delicate artistic work, that show your art in 'pure state'. It is a true master piece! Thank you for posting it again!

Fabulous drawing, Mark. You were very good with a pencil back then. A pleasure to see. A perfect avatar for you. And i think you had this avatar for many years. I can not remember you not having it... It makes me think.. i wonder if you still draw with pencils? Prayers and best wishes, that the phisio therapy can repair that wrist of yours. I would love to see more drawings from you.
