Description

I shot this last weekend at James A. Reed Conservation Area, just south of Lees Summit, Mo. It was pretty windy, so I didn't fly the Phantom this time. Jo and I wandered around a bit and got a few photos. That's Jo walking along the shoreline. As you can see, the ice is almost completely gone. I've been off the grid for a few days. Thursday afternoon, I had to take a trip to the ER for severe pain in my left flank... I had the same pain on the right side in 2009, so I had a good idea what it was - and I was right. They did a Cat-scan, and although they didn't find any cats, they did find a 6.5mm kidney stone lodged in the tube that goes from the kidney to the bladder. They shot me up with morphine, and sent me home with several prescriptions. I saw the urologist yesterday, and they will be getting me set up for lithotripsy. In the meantime, the pain seems to come and go, and is kept pretty much under control with meds. Anyway, I'm going to try and get caught up on comments, then get back to work on the next T.N.A. page. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Nice shot Rod, still looks cool though, and winter does make for a bleak scene... let's see the same place in summer.. with all the clothes back on the trees, but it looks nice! Thanks heavens they didn't find and cats, and the lab report didn't find any dogs ;o).... but a kidney stone!!.. they say that is the closest experience in terms of pain, a male can get to experiencing child birth!!!.. feel for ya!

That's exactly what my doctor told me about the pain last time I had one of these damn things.... :-P Not a good way to spend a weekend, I'll tell ya that! I'm really thankful they didn't find any cats - or especially cats AND dogs.... Now that would be painful!

I hope everything goes well for you... and to be one the safe side I'm sending Trish, Ranpha and Rico over to see if you need anything... now thinking this through, I better accompany them... someone going to have to look after them, you may not have a house left if I don't!! Get better soon...

OUCH! I've had kidney stones and I can tell you I'd rather give birth to a mountain goat than go through that again. That must be some seriously good dope you're getting if it can handle that pain. Hope they get you fixed up soon. Weather-wise we had a great day today and it's going back in the dumpster tomorrow. This rollercoaster is getting old. That is a great photo of the ice melting.

Hey Rod, I was near this area the other day over on Oldham Rd at one of the places we do business with in Lees Summit called Chromewright. Sorry about the problems you're having with that kidney stone, and I'll put you in my prayers.

Great capture, Rod! Looks like spring may actually arrive for all of us.... I've had too many of those stones, I could have my own concert. they do feel like a spiked bowling ball passing through so I can 'feel' your pain! My sympathies to you.

It is good to see the ice and snow finally go. Good luck on getting the stone removed, sounds kinda big; ouch! Those seem to be routine procedures these days, and you've had experience, so hopefully you'll be pain free in no time.

Oooooooooooooooooooh! Kidney stones!!! My dad had those years ago when he was alive (can't get 'em when you're dead I guess) and said they were VERY painful. Glad you got treatment before they got really bad. Looking forward to the next TNA.

My brother has bad kidney stone issues. His doc told him to start drinking a beer a day and also told him to not drink coffee without milk. I'm not sure why on the 2nd. Yeah, we had a lot of ice here, it has been a hell of a winter!
