Description

The main character associated with the Basel Carnival is the "Waggis". Originally meant to represent workers from across the French border, the Waggis is traditionally represented as having prominent teeth, a big red nose (wonder why?) and blond hair. He is traditionally dressed in a blue blouse and white trousers as well as clogs, a white collar, red kerchief and a tricolour cockade. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waggis http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waggis Carnival in Basel (CH) - March 2014 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carnival_of_Basel
