Description

Captured 3/13/14, early morning, about 1.5 miles from my habitat. Thought I would try something new as a variation, so I delved deep into the milieu of acrylics, ala Jocko500, and came up with this image. Original foto on the bottom. A ZOOM is required for a full appreciation of these images. Adieu.

The original has real starkness and contrast, with that bleached early light you've captured so strongly in your gallery. Your crop allows the wall to dominate the background, so that the trees stand out very strongly by comparison. And the light on the trees is bleached and powerful too. More of your ealry-morning-light, with a strong flush-forward presence. The acrylic---yes, it looks painted: But you got a heavy flow that makes it look surreal too, and almost like it's made of fur. There were 20th C artists who did pieces like this---bold hues, somewhat flat and quite bright, rendered with textures that made the painting seem like a tapestry or a dream. That's how this feels. A scene taken over by organic growth and energy. (If one doesn't see it zoomed, one is missing a lot...Oh the battle for zoom. I SO wish RR would post these the size we made them, then we'd never have to worry again.) A fascinating pair, with each image standing out on its own. Van Gogh used continual strokes like this---but your vivid 'flatter' hues make this more surreal than Van Gogh's works. I love all that you do with this unique early SW light...
