Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

WOW! that is one eye-poppingly pink flower. No wonder the bumbles like it. :)

I remember being about 11 or 12 years old, thinking hot pink and bright orange must be the most beautiful color combination ever in the history of the world. I caught a lot of flak for that. Hmmmmm ... I was right after all! :)

I am not that fond of pink but I love this. Just like the fiery centre of a volcano !!

Vibrant indeed, what a great pic!

your capture has the feel of a painting, it's very intense and---at this proximity---it feels painted on. Very strong presence, strong hues, and a lot of motion and activity for a small section of one flower. Also, this close up, a flower can seem iridescent, giving off hues as if from within it. It feels that way here...I love when you peer into natural subjects and explore what they have to say, close up. A powerful center, and the orange stamens are beautiful contrast...

Fine digifiddling employed in this Tizzy25 macro of the sizzling center of this lovely bloom. Too hot not to cool down, especially in your current venue of cold and wet weather. And, fascinating that your lovely camellias and roses all have names of people of high societal status, Andrea.

The whole flower is beautiful and Tizzy 25 made a macro of the bits really jump out. Exquisite color!

looking at the image, I immediately understand the meaning of the word "sizzling"( that I didn't know)
