My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

Nice to see our old friend enjoying himself out there. What a great bit of light you captured here.

I do remember the primal presence of those trees, and they dominate their world like people with big lace shawls. The light in your shot is dappled and musical, the shadow equally so; and though it's a dark shot, it sings with a kind of operatic glow. Bill's blue really makes fine contrast to all those other hues---like he picked that color for the shot. A laden moody shot of gentle beauty. And great to see bill as part of that glorious whole...

I'll skip making a remark about the guy in the blue shirt but your photo within the gardens of Houmas House speaks volumes about the awe inspiring feeling evoked by the place. All I can say is Wow for the place and Wow, wow for your photography:) A fine result.

Beautiful. I think the massive scale of this tree would have evident even without Bill's presence, but he adds both a reference point & a human element to it. I love the way those huge branches extend out horizontally behind the bushes on the left & out of frame to the right, so we can only imagine how far they might go. And the pattern of shadows on the walkway & the colorful touches of yellow & purple flowers are very appealing as well. Superb shot in every way...

There's a lot of hugging needed here! :)

That's a MAGNOLIA ? Great Scott! I can only hope mine is not the same species or there will be no room for my new bling mobile on the drive in a year or too.

A splendid pic and a super play of light and shadow under the trees.

This is what happens when humans butt out and leave nature alone. After a few hundred years the trees start to looks this magnificent. I'm with Bill. Trees are great and so is your photography.

Wow! Absolutely breathtaking; I've been down that way a few times, and the trees are more than trees, they're TREES. With their own zip codes and bank accounts and respectable family, er, trees, I guess. Well, you know what I mean. They're larger than life and are a force to be reckoned with, spreading out like a good story. Our trees up here mostly go up, reaching for the above-cloudlayer light, but down there they get that lazy southern sun and humidity and just settle right in and raise families. A beautiful setting for your little blue jewel ;)

A truly spectacular shot, Tara! With Bill in the photo, you really get a feel for how huge these old trees are. Gorgeous light here, too!

I'm surprised you ever got Bill out of Humboldt County if he loves BIG trees; ours are the BIGGEST! But these are pretty cool and very different from the redwoods. Nice shot of the guy in the blue shirt too!!
