Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Never knew what these were called, I have seen these, but when I didn't have a camera with me. Excellent work.

Super shot. It does look like brains. You seem to have created the botanical equivalent of an Ark.

I was curious about this fungi so i looked it up to see if it was edible. It is not! http://botit.botany.wisc.edu/toms_fungi/may2002.html But, it does make a lovely photo. :)

it looks like someone's guts are tied up in a knot! Great capture

Cool capture in this macro, Andrea. Since I have never seen a real Morel before, I will take your word that this isn't the real thing, and that it is indeed the false variety. Actually, it appears to be a conglomeration of purple worms, tightly wound in some sort of wrestling match.

A magnificent zoom, gorgeous color and it looks like a brain that has escaped an anatomy lab! :)

A fascinating fungi, a great discovery and quality captures.. but quite deadly... this can be a killer by mistaken identity and also because esculenta means good to eat in Latin which would be one's last meal if they chose to do so. If I'm not mistaken it's sometimes known as the false morel and people have died collecting them thinking they are indeed those... but this one should come with a skull and cross bones because not only is it very toxic it is also carcinogenic and death can be agonizing process up to a week it seems. Great captures... don't let the dogs eat them.
