Hermes (Mercury). The son of Zeus and Maia, and the messenger of the gods. Graceful and swift, he was the shrewdest and most cunning of the gods, in fact he was the master thief, who started upon his career before he was a day old. Hermes was also the god of Commerce and Market, protector of traders, and the Divine Herald, the solemn guide of the dead who led souls down to their last home.
