A big orchid symphony, where many orchids are working together in a wave of orchestral music. You've subsumed your sensual flowers into balletic lines and wraps; and, while they maintain their individual identities (as your flower work is far too complex and individual for them to be "lost" in a group), they all work together to make a huge patchwork-blanket. Everything undulates out of everything else. And the lowest level begins to be dissolved by your deep purples; and the upper level turns into deeper broader swirls---you have the broader more sweeping forms on top and bottom, as "couch" (or maybe "cradle") for the highly articulated flowers in the middle. And the goddess emerges out of it all, as if she's peeking her head out of her natural habitat. It's always amazing that you get so much variety with one predominant hue-family---you understand the many hues implicit in one family, and you also understand how to bring out light and dark, saturation and desaturation, etc, and mix it all with texture and line, to give a primarily "purple" painting a whole range of hue and form. I also like the swaths of purple on her face, like she just came out of a deep cavern filled with healing waters. (But then healing is a big theme in your work.) Quite sensual, and equally beautiful. An emergent spirit from healing...

So interesting that you compared this to a ballet, as it is a kind of dance of petals, colors, and tones. She is emerging from and also a part of the orchids. I really enjoy playing with color and its many hues, blending them into a singular mood. Thanks so much for your wonderful comment, Mark.
