Sometimes when our world is cold and colorless the miracle of a rose on the darkest night can fill our heart with beauty and light. Miracle Of A Rose prose by Carol Cavalaris © Credits: This is the first in my new collection called 'Brigitte's Roses'. Recently I met the most delightful woman who has a spectacular garden in France, filled with over 800 varieties of roses. She also loves unicorns and when she saw my Unicorn Of The Roses art she asked for permission to post it on her website. I told her I thought my unicorn would be very happy amongst her amazing roses, and we struck up an instant friendship. Brigitte is a caring, spiritual woman and roses have had a very personal meaning in her life. Now she fills her garden with roses, for all the world to enjoy. To me, they are very special healing roses, because each is grown with a deep love. I was inspired by the beauty of her spirit and wanted to honor Brigitte and her roses by doing this collection featuring only Brigitte's Roses. Created in Photoshop, using a photo reference, blended with an Organica background by romanceworks, and painting techniques. Special thanks to Brigitte for the use of her beautiful rose photo. Sweet to be inspired by a special friend. A very, very painterly portrait, your strokes are a river of energies and interactions. And you've layered the petals over each other like they were slabs of silk joyously laid out everywhere...I love the slightly 'messy' feeling of it all. (Nature's the ultimate glorious mess, a cornucopia.) And the deeper violet bloom---on our right---is a kind of climax for the whole bouquet, because the hues seem to coagulate there. Your background has more grain, more molecular 'movement' than a lot of your images, and it makes it like a world seen through a beautiful filter, or through stained glass. And you have a dragonfly there too---hovering, as your insects always do, in a loving way. And your 'ground' is in deeper green-blues (soulful), while your 'sky' is in lighter more pastel hues---and there's a sense, there, of unfocussed glass parts. I'm not getting the right words, but the whole piece seems to be seen through an invisible piece of beautifully colored glass. Beautiful piece, very visceral, very painterly, delicate yet very tactile. A real gift to your friend. (I'm sure I've said this before, but the rose was a symbol of wisdom in the east; and the common title, "rishi"---for "sage"---is from the same root as "rose". Just wanted to add that, since this is a spiritual vision of that special flower...)
