YEAR: 1962 FEATURING: Nadine It was the summer of '62, and George Lucas was cruising around Modesto gathering ideas for a movie. "Where were you in '62?" Meanwhile, in Hillville, some members of the Silent Generation (and one Baby Boomer) were hanging out at the city pool. Sure, Nadine was a "Jayne Mansfield" type when "Audrey Hepburn" types were becoming more popular. And yes, there is that issue of the rather unsettling scar on her left cheek that most people seem to ignore after five minutes. But still, even though she has only lived in Hillville for a year, the general consensus is that "to know her is to love her." Nadine is basically the ultimate Good Girl... who knows what it's like to be something very different. We won't get into the details of how she turned her life around, just that it was sudden and she has never looked back. The men of Hillville find her to be "very marryable," and, given the times, they mean that literally. It's true that in those days men were a bit ruder and more forward with unmarried women, but here they know that Miss Strong is watching over Nadine, and any bursts of ungentlemanly behavior would most certainly not be worth it.
