Interesting postwork. Almost seems like large dry brush. It is playing tricks with my eyes, seeming to be completely 2 dimensional. Picasso would have like that. It almost seems like a portal to a dark realm full of mystery. The bright hues surrounding the entrance seem inviting, yet the darkness within gives a sense of foreboding.

I like the creative abstract playfulness on display here. The doorway looks like it's bordered by big stone blocks, but they seem to be made of shadows rather than stone & the yellows glow like buttered sunlight. Excellent & very cool...

Moorish….yes, that's what I had in mind after scanning this. Those who pass through this dark portal are never seen again. Fine postwork employed in this photo of the ornate entrance, with the picturesque and well worn steps below, Mark, with a smattering of light mauve for embellishment.

I find this totally captivating; the graphic feel to it, and that dark inviting mystery beyond the sweetly coloured ornate doorway...I love your architectural shots. They seem to really resonate with you!

Mark, this is another brilliant work of art in my humble estimation. The soft effects you used here really play with the lighting for the scene and help highlight the details of the doorway. The chips and cracks all about only add to the illusion and almost aide in taking one back in time.

Wow, this just jumped out and grabbed me. It could have been just a doorway, but the way you caught it and the postwork you did makes it very, very special!

This reminds me of that first trip I took to Chicago. Surely I took a picture of this very door? (If not ... there was one I missed????) You know how dear this subject is to my heart, and this image totally fills and fulfills. LOVE the postwork!

Your treatment of this photo is very pleasing. You've created a smooth & soft looking texture even though the surfaces must be hard and rough. It appears to be warm with the heat of the sun and it glows with delicious pale yellows and pinks. Very inviting!! Reminds me of lemon custard with plum sauce.... lovely.

Beautiful capture and motif, Mark. I really love this kind of architecture. A kind of gothic dorway, with beautiful ornaments. Maybe even originally inspired by artists like Michelangelo. Nice postowork too.

Beautiful! My mind goes to sun bleached stone on the Mediterranean. Isn't it wonderful how architecture can take you around the world, far from where you stand. It can take you into fantasy worlds. Entirety and details work on the heart, sometimes separately, and other times all together in a confused and hard to articulate way. I love your postwork. It looks like a beautiful water color. It reminds me of one of the things water colors do so well; colors softly blended or in bold abstract shapes; detail that is here sharp and clearly defined and there a whisper, a hint. In really fine water colors (which this looks very much like) it is the skilled combination of these elements which touch the heart and transfix the viewer's eye while the mind wanders between image and imagination. I love the light, soft glowing colors, and the dark elements, the lines of the stairs and their marbled like colors leading to the dark doorway, the accents of the number, bowl, and lamps, and the lovely textures and details of the stone. Beautiful!
