Description

Rosie going for a paddle in the river at the reclaimed dump, Millhams, North Bournemouth. Everywhere a tree overhangs the water someone has made a swing. I loved those when I was a child, irresistible! There is another river reflections pic Here

A wonderful view and shot. Love the colour tones of the sky and the tree in the water.

Nicely reclaimed land... this really is a great shot with the sky helping to balance it out nicely. Hope Rosie enjoyed her paddle, seems like a nice day for one. I remember those swings as a kid too, if I tried it now I would probably end up doing what happened on the other side of the tree followed by a huge splash.lol

With your term"irresistible" Are we to take it you had a go? hehe! I would have done I tell you true. What a pretty scene, so great that it has been reclaimed, now all we need to do is keep the avaricious scum developers away from it.

Beautiful scenic pic, Andrea, but it took some full scale scanning to locate the swing. The naked against the sky tree is awesome. And I believe that's Rosie down at the bottom of the photo.

The flickr is a gentle shot of the beauty of the water and trees. This shot is a surprise, because you have the beautiful landscape (with that big tree right in the center---a good anchor for the shot), but then---whoosh: Rosie's there! She's tiny but she steals the shot. All that nature becomes a backdrop for her and her alone. And the swing comes into view, and it's delightful too. Two signs of animal and human life in a peaceful and beautiful landscape. Very sweet shot, Andrea.

Being of the "crop it until it shows only what you want us to see" persuasion, I would have mangled this lovely image until it no longer said anything. It never would have seen the light of day. There's no virtue in THAT sort of process!! The way you've left this, with the swing as a photographic afterthought, and then using it as the title so we make sure we see it, is brilliant. The sweep of the river, the alone-ness of a beautiful day when one is about ten years old with a swing and a dog to keep one company, the promise of summer, gives this a sense of peaceful, soul-filling happiness that a picture of a swing would not provide. Delicious!

I love the old tree and the idea of the childhood swing! A great childhood memory. A lovely place to Rosie to get in a swim! I liked the row of tree reflection too!

Go Rosie, go! Jump in and get wet! Leya would be trying to figure out how to get that swing without getting in the water .. without getting her feet wet.
