Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

I have never seen a Green Cymbidium as lovely as this, Andrea, further enhanced by the erotic lighting effects.

On my recent vacation I had the opportunity to go to a huge greenhouse filled with many varieties of orchids. naturally my camera was clicking away. I thought I had some decent shots to share here, but these of yours so far outshine any that I took. You really are an artist with the camera. :)

In most plants green flowers don't look right but it works with Cymbidium.

Ditto Harry, it's truly beautiful. As is the flickr version---very different! They're both beautiful captures. The light on this is magical, a pictorial element all to itself. And the deep shadowed green is reclusive and draws us way in. It's beautifully seen and done. And your background is all faded into water-drops of hue and shape; and they make the pic a cornucopia of flower-shapes. Very rich, like fruit ice; and very delicate, like fruit ice too. And those intense browns above the flower make a fine accent to the whole. Beautiful work, Andrea. Both images are beautiful, more beautiful flower work from you. I have to stop now only because I'm back for only a morning or two, and I want to do a few other galleries. I hope to do a few more before I leave again, but I've seen everything, and believe me it's not easy to choose. This is a beautiful place to leave for now, though...

Two beautiful photos and colors - I like the dappled lighting on the cream version!
