Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Superb capture Andrea. God bless.

I thought all mine had disappeared but then when the weather was right they all appeared from the depths so you will probably see them again. Nice shot.

Great capture cool scene

A maelstrom of activity in this water pic, Andrea, with what I assume is some kind of early fish life, spouting bubbles as they weave in and out of the flora. Now If I only knew what species of fish life this is.

Excellent shot Andrea. My experience of tadpoles is that they will be replaced real quickly, and predators rarely get them all. I even found them in an old mop bucket left out for no use. They all were there one minute and not the next. Weeks later there were tiny perfect frogs in the garden :)

Yes, I think they have an inborn sense of survival, and will go to places where there are shadows to protect them. Although they are fair game for a lot of other wildlife, that's for certain! But I'm sure you'll have the serenade of frogs later in the season! Wonderful capture!!

looks like your ponds in good shape and I'm sure some will have survived.

What an amazing site..for me anyway as I don't have a pond!

Oh I hope they are in hiding and safe .. such a promising brood, such a marvelous picture, and such awesomely clear water! Of course it is still spring.

Nature at its finest..and what a fantastic shot. I'll be hoping the culprits didn't gorge themselves on the whole lot of them, and that they've managed some self protective tactics only to surprise you later.

What a brilliant image! I haven't seen tadpoles since I was a boy. It looks like a frat party down there.

HA! First I thought. OH! does a pond have seeweed? Then I realized it were toad babies LOL! What a wonderful shot. Love it.

I'm sure you will start seeing the babies soon, there will be more than enough survivors from that lot. I like this shot for many reasons and one of them is the bubbles on the surface of the waters and the greens and so forth. Nice shot.

A beautiful collection of pollywogs in your pond! Lets hope some survived!

Oh, a fascinating shot. You've said on occasion that you just point and shoot, but boy these shots show so much packed-in visual sense. The crossing of those two light stems or leaves (they look like bamboo) is wonderful, when crossed over by the tadpoles. And the bubbles are the musical accompaniment. Wonderful, Andrea, with all that deep green around. A wonderful photo---love it.
