Description

Anemone De Caen I am SO pleased that this year I have managed to grow these! Previous attempts to get them going in the ground have failed, so this time I planted the corms in containers and the mice didn't find them. See another on a more dramatic background Here

Gorgeous! I always grew them in containers, but only because I wanted them up on the patio where I could see them every day. I guess that was a lucky choice! :) Since I'm now ONLY doing container gardening, and since anemone is deer resistant, I'll have to remember to get some going when we get back home. They're SUCH a treat!

I'm skipping, Andrea, because I'm only here for a few days and I just want to get a broad swath. This is exceptional, as is the flickr version: Yes, the flickr has a much more dramatic background, it's beautiful. This one has that bold red flower in the background, and another anemone on the left; and you've postworked it not just for bokeh, but for glass like textures, with all that distorted light that stained glass gives. Then that flower...it's so bold and visceral! And your shadow is very dramatic, set off by the acute detail of the stamens (and center in general). And the veins are so clear. And the ant is perfect there, the one visitor to the whole scene: He's set off beautifully. Did you know that "anemone" means "daughter of the wind" in Greek? I'm not sure that has anything to do with this shot, but it's a beautiful meaning. (I'm wondering if the "anem-" root is similar to the root for "anime," since that originally had to do with breath or spirit. Of no matter here, but I just loved the meaning...) This is a beautiful shot, in our faces and so articulate and clear! Both are. Beautiful work, Andrea.
