Description
I have tried for several years to get a shot of a male Great Blue herron. I went to a marina about 5 am one day. I sat in the scrub by the water for 2 hours. I got so many mosquito bites that I could have played connect the dots. Yes I used bug stuff.
This shot is slightly out of focus, but that is one of many things I am working on. I rather liked the way the trees and bushes reflected so green in the water to give it that great back ground. I am getting there. I tell my6 great nieces that when I grow up I want to be a real photographer. They find this very funny...........

Terrific! I photographed one at the river today, but nothing like as good as this. But I just point and shoot in passing, nothing much else you can do on a busy riverbank full of dogs, including mine.

Great capture! Wonderful composition. I understand the issues surrounding the capturing of these birds on 'film'

A veru good and beautiful shot. Herrons don't like to be photographed, they always leave if you are still not close enough. Great job.

Excellent shot! The bird looks nicely sharp, and your depth of field is exquisite. Well done!

My, what good fortune you had, not to mention perseverence! Very nice despite the focal question, which most wouldn't notice without it being mentioned. Thanks for this beautiful post. The blurry reflections in the water form a very nice background. :-)
