Description
I just didn't want any of us to forget this gentle man, who left us on this day in 2010. His sitename was koosievantutte, his real name was Hans, and his gallery is here.
In my only talk with him, a month before he died, he was so charming and so erudite---without any pretense---that when I got off the phone, I told a friend: "He was like rare crystal---rare, and one of a kind."
The pic above is a chunk of ornament by then-beginning Frank Lloyd Wright. It's 3 blocks from my apartment. Why do I post it? Because Koosie just "got" things like this, he saw a piece of ornament like this and knew it was what we were here for, the precious little jewels that make up our lives. "Finding stars in a grain of sand"...I postworked this for today, and for May 5th, when he would've turned 70.
People like Koosie observe the jewels in life, and quietly appear to us, and tap us on the shoulders to say, "remember," "don't forget the jewels in front of you". When he called, I kept him on for an hour when he was so tired: But I couldn't let him go. He was so charming and magical (his accent was like rare wine) that he wrapped me around his little finger. He mesmerized me.
For all of you who knew him, and those who never met him, this is for all of us, a big deep hug for this dear man who reminded us every day what quality was supposed to be; and that, with a little extra effort, we can grab it and make it our own, that this is our legacy and gift...our inheritance. With much love and gratitude to you, Koosie, from your eternal student and always-grateful friend,
Mark

Mark, you've done an outstanding job on this thoughtful dedication to the memory of you're friend. Sorry to say that I never knew him, but I'm going to take time out to enjoy his gallery after being moved by this presentation. People in the world today whom have such a positive frame of mind are a rare commodity indeed. They are able to look past the clouds of negativity that sometimes hang of us from our daily struggles. They do seem to see everything around them in a different light, often times basking in the glow. Most importantly they seek to share that vision with everyone around them. In reality this sounds a lot like the way many kids view the world, before their minds become jaded as they get older.

His work was a delight, and his comments cherished. I remember once or twice when I got three sentences from him ... it was like he had written War & Peace or something, and I was blown away. Every word meant something. And now, I'm going to go have my morning coffee and raise my cup to his memory. A beautiful dedication, Mark. The best for The Best.

He was a rare and lovely man, and I did enjoy his comments and work. You've made a beautiful piece of art for his memory, and I know he would love it! Well done, Mark.

I remember his work, his gallery and treasure the few comments I got from him. In fact going back, he welcomed me to Renderosity during the first week I was here in 2008. An absolutely lovely piece from you...the colors, the light, the imaginative endless varieties in shape and form. But most of all, thanks for reminding me of this fine man...we are all better for him having been here and even in a small way in our lives.

OMG, you pushed the postwork envelope to the extreme in this remarkable dedication to your friend, Koosie, Mark. Terrific display of gem variations in this salute. I never knew the man, or visited his gallery, or communicated with him, which isn't that unusual. All in all, I echo the above comments in their assessment of the man and world philosophy.

A very beautiful tribute to Hans, and I like how you have shown the facets of who he was with your artwork. The colors and light in this really has such a powerful spiritual quality.

What a perfect dedi to dear Koosie. I miss him and often find myself thinking about him. I often play Teddy Bear Picnic and remember his gentle playful ways. I did not know him for nearly long enough, but his influence changed me forever.. I think for the better. I learned to see people with a softer eye. He also helped me rediscover a playful side of myself that illness had dulled. Toasts both Hans and Mark with a mug of coffee

Beautiful image series and memorial, Mark. I never knew Hans, but this is a touching memorial for him. A fine illustration of his soul and movement. It is sad to experience friends die here on Rendo. The best we can do about it, is to remember them with a smile.. thinking.. I was lucky to know that person for a while. And i find that is what you say here.

OH yes, dear Mark. Your words are so true. and every time I am using his watercolors and his brushes, I send him warm and loving thoughts. I still miss his very special and wonderful pawn images, I loved so much. :) He told so clever stories with them and they always had a special meaning. I adored them, but I also know how fond he was about architecture and ornaments, so these beautiful pieces for Koosie are right in the eye and ever so lovely. His smile would have been bigger than his fav smiley, seeing this. :))) Yes, we are so fortunate having known such a jewel as he was.
