Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Soft pastels are very messy, even if the artist is careful. These are much more civilized :)

Rainbow joy! Yes! I have rainbow joy! I love seeing clothes in a display (tshirts and jeans, etc), when they put all the colors up in order. Art supplies, absolutely. Anything in every color, as long as they put it in the right order!! I could look at this every day and never tire of it. Rainbow joy, indeed! :)

Stellar POV and spectrum of colors in this pic of your pastel pencil collection, A. They're probably in storage, but I wonder if I still have my pastels from decades past.

Pastels always remind me of Degas. A beautiful medium if one can master it.

I also love the look of art supplies. And the smells. And the colours are amazing when they're all together like this, so very enticing!

And in your hands they become lethal weapons (you know, because of the "killer" drawings you do). This brings back memories of my days in art class.

A glorious array of colours.

Oh, a smashing set, and captured just as they should be: Head on, with a full array in front of us. I saw the soft pastels too. I have to agree with you 100% about USING soft pastel, and I always see your comments on Helle's pastels on how you'd love to make them but they leave you inundated with dust: I get it. A 100 mile radius around my pastel drawings, you have a world of powders and hues, they're on my hands, my clothes, the carpeting, everywhere. And then you have to FIX the damned things. But that's ok, we have Helle to do it for us. (And she hates fixing them too. Why can't those powders just sit on the paper like all their friends do? "Do you see the ACRYLICS falling all over the floor? Do you??? LOOK at me when I'm talking to you!") Anyway, I'm a big fan of your "art media" shots, they make me drool. And the soft ones are gorgeous too. Thanks for reminding me how luscious these things are to look at...you almost don't want to touch them...

I like the colorful pencils best - I have never tried chalk before but have enjoyed colored pencils!
