Description
Captured 3/19/14, early on an overcast morning, about a mile from my archaic abode.
More fun with this memorable series. The original is at the top of the first variation collage. And plenty more to go on this.

I think the top one is best because it is so dramatic!

That's it? Just the top one? I was hoping you would like them all equally well.

These are some really wild variations, Harry.

I really love that edgy top one, and the high-key fourth one; the last one, with its mirror-image effect is also quite cool. The second one reminds me of leaving the optometrist after having my eyes dilated, a little bit scary. The fourth, the etching style, is fascinating; it works so well with this photo. You're having way too much fun here, Harry!

Great shot and variations. My favorite is the second one from the top.

More rich and fascinating studies of all that exists in an already rich capture. These malls (I saw lots of them in Florida too) are rich with angles, light, shadow, lines; and you've done myriad explorations into all. The top one resonates with me for obvious reasons (ie, the stark black and white), where you've turned the arcade into a long dark journey. (Arcades should feel like an endless journey, anyway.) Fine contrast and grain; and I like that you let snippets of the inner-mall shine through. The 2d one---yes, with Denise (post eye-doctor visit). But in this case, it's not a light-washed blur, but a pic filled with echoing lines---like someone hit it with a 9 million ton mallet, and the whole building vibrated like a bell (boi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oi-oinnnnnng!) Very well realized. The 3d isn't only etch-like, but you emphasized lines so that the parking lot now resembles a train yard. It's awash in electrified lines. The 4th is about light obliterating the walls and stone, etc. (I know you get sun down there, but that's reeealllly intense!) Fine grain too. And the last one is like a scene from an arcade, with underground/subway lighting, and the feeling of big arcade games or computer screen games. Your marine blue makes it feel underwater...love the feel and unreality. More high invention from you, but also analysis. Analysis in a visual way, studying the elements of a shot, and exploring what each is made of. People who don't know these strip malls have to appreciate that they're often very similar to each other, and not particularly inviting for invention: The fact that you've found so much expression in one lone shot of them is occasion for applause, Harry!
