Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
I wasn't sure how to identify these two.....lassies, barmaids, milkmaids, wenches? In any case, the one on the left - big and buxom - typifies many of the female gender seen on that memorable day at the Faire. And I have more photos of the witch shown in the background.
One thing I must add. The accents and the olde English parlance of the employees and entertainers was so thick that I should have had Andrea along as an interpreter. Like, how many times can I say "for sooth, varlet," in response.
Don't forget to ZOOM.
Ciao, baby.

An interesting scene and two lovely ladies you've captured here. I like the costumes and especially the expression of the lady on the right. Superb shot!

Can't believe what great poses you coaxed out of these people! You obviously "charmed the drawers off them," as Andrea said. (I've not come close to this with people photography: They just 'duck' when they see me---not a big ego booster...) Great double pose, esp as one woman is facing you directly, while the lady behind is kind of leaning into her (and looking like she's having a smashing time). And on one side, the 'witch' and on the other, a young lady in jeans and backpack! Reeeeeeaaallllllly not Renaissance! Great juxtaposition. I realize that these shots forced you to think quickly, dodge interceders, do them over again when some dude ran in front of your best shot, etc. But the confluence has been wonderful---as is witnessed by that modern person next to these clearly period women in front. The two in front are wearing peasant skirts, with the cups around the waist. And they make a smashing portrait. Terrific capture, and strong hues to boot.
