Description

Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California. The couple appear to be having a good time. Except for the humongous magnum of wine in the hand of the comely lass, not much more to say about this one. Since I took so many pics (445) at the Faire, I intend to post them quite often. Avtio.

Great capture of this young pair having fun at the Faire! I hope she isn't going to drink all that herself. I'm in awe of you managing to get around all that real estate at the faire on your own two feet; I'd have had to hire a serf to push me around in a cart!

Nice colorful shot. Great postwork with the lighting. It's unfortunate there are a few things in the background that don't fit the time period. With the amount of people at these events, I would expect it is very difficult to get a clean shot .

Yes, lots of luck getting a good clean shot with the huge crowd at the Faire. I didn't have the time for that miracle to happen.

I agree with your son's comment, and yeah, it's nigh impossible to get these shots clear of outside influence (like that volkswagen-like vehicle in back, covered by a skirt!). But part of the charm of these shots is that they're in context---they show period sights mixed with modern. That's what makes them "street photography," so once one gets over the time-mix, they become real delights. You got a guy in jeans and sneakers too: A real pot-pourri! But the highlight, of course, is the couple: And it's another smashing portrait in this series. You have a magic going on in these shots: Often when amateurs pose for photographers on the street, one gets a semi-natural, semi-forced look. But these look wholly natural and yet artistically posed at the same time. Terrific smiles, terrific postures, wholly at ease with you, happy to show off and yet without any real showing-off, and beautiful colors. As for that wine bottle, duuuuuuude! That's a lotta wine! (Or ale, mead, I don't know. Gatorade???) Great detail. Another delight from this outstanding series; and it's great that this is becoming one half of each day's offerings: You're using the multiple upload allowance to the max, Harry.
