jendellas - the deep rich red was the original color of Brigitte's roses, though they also grow in shades of mauve and violet.

wow, a real difference between them all. The mauve has a more delicate feel, a cooler feel, and being lighter, the details of the petals are more visible. In the red version---a highly saturated red, or a violet-tinged red---the red brings out a deep passion in the flowers; also the darker highlights---esp around the edges---are far more visible here than in the other versions. That brings out not only the decaying portions more, but creates a stronger drama within the flowers, esp in the bottom-center one. And, in the red version, the background has suddenly bloomed into yellows and greens, with rich red sections where there were violets (I mean violet the hue, not the flower). You said the red was the color of the original roses? It's amazing how each hue creates a new world of its own. Great to see these variations, they really do warrant two uploads. These must be quite powerful full size...Beautiful.
