Description

In the dog play area at Slades Farm open space Bournemouth. Ralph especially like to be up there out of the way of very boisterous puppies. It's amazing to think what opposition all the innovative features of this marvellous park once faced. The NIMBYs didn't want the velodrome, dog-haters didn't see the point of the play area, and some folk didn't think the community garden would be a success. See another with Ralphie looking rather apprehensive Here

May I ask, why do they have two collars on? Looks extremely uncomfortable. Just wondering.

They have a house collar with bells and phone number, and a martingale for walks.

fantastic photo the title reminded me immediately of a dutch proverb...translated : finding the dog in the jar ( wich means you are too late for dinner and just have to take what is left)

Another fine composition of your canine corps, Andrea, but you let them up on top of a table where people eat?

What a delightful family portrait! I like the other one too, and understand about Ralphie liking to be on the table. We have two new pups at the park this summer who are learning quickly that Mandy doesn't play. (One is a year old, and one is only a few months.) Mandy is quite clear that she's the alpha dog around here, and no one to be trifled with! She'll say hello, but any further interaction is met with growls and a nip. Fortunately the pups love to play with each other, so it's all working out just fine. :)

I've used martingale collars since Gracie Anne, who had a neck that was so heavily muscled that she could easily slip out of most collars, until the Martingale. The Martingale is Leya's "working collar", that's the one I use for obedience class and when we're "working" at home. Her's isn't as wide though, as Ralphie's beautiful collar. A marvelous capture of the pack, and I love the flickr one too. I think they heard a bunch of wild puppies and are all a bit alarmed at such rowdy behavior!

I showed this to a rescuer friend of mine, and she said it looked like a lineup of kings and queens. I said I wouldn't tell your dogs, lest they get swelled heads, lol. It's a terrific lineup, with Ralph looking positively regal. And Rosie in a position one saw in fashion shots from catalogs of the 60s and 70s, et al: Where someone was in motion, or just about to start moving---like a guy in chinos looking like he was caught "off guard" while walking across the room. That's how Rosie looks, even though I know she had nothing like that in mind (nor you). It's a wonderful capture of 3 dogs at home with themselves, with great expressions, and Rosie looking like she just saw a mouse. And you filtered the background, flattening the textures and rendering it a series of hue-colonies. I love how you do this double or triple treatment of background: Two kinds of shot in one. A terrific capture of your dogs, once again.

A very handsome photo Andrea - nicely caught my friend! I don't think that I have seen that heavy collar on Ralph before - maybe a walking collar!
