Description

I'd been spending a lot of time on modeling in recent weeks. Well actually, I should say I've been learning more about modeling, texturing and material zones when it comes to designing shoes. They were so fun to look at in Silo, but I knew there would come a time when the training wheels had to come off and you'd have to start trying to get them ready for Poser, so I set about the task of bringing them into Poser. One thing I had to learn straight away is to Watch your normals! That was a bit of time wasted I can assure you. Now I incorporate checking normals into my modeling thought process. The shoes are done in Poser Materials. They do have UVs, but I find that for simple models like this, texturing isn't all that necessary provided there are good shaders available. (I'm using Parrot Dolphin's PD-Metals shader for the buckles and they came out pretty well.) Shoes are pretty simple in that regard, but anyway I was really happy with how they turned out. This is just a test render before I go to work on Rigging them this weekend, but it's certainly promising.

10 out of 10 they look fantastic. I have been tinkering with DS4.6 for the last year or so but just getting started with Hexagon just at the modeling stage at the moment and can make almost any shape now and groups of shapes. UV mapping is my next task but that does not look too hard if I can get my models to look as good as yours I will be happy. Keep up the good work. My best, Tabian
