Description

After recently getting my new camera body (T3i) I decided it was time to try a new flash set up for my macro work. So I looked at getting a Ring Flash. The first one I bought was a 48 LED version off Amazon for about 40$. It was worth less than I paid for it as far as Macro was concerned (I had to have my settings at 800 ISO to get a nice f/stop for good DOF, no good). So I returned it (hassle free btw). After doing a bit of research I decided to try the $105. Meike MK-14EXT, Non-LED and ETTL with my Canon. What a Difference 60$ makes! Had the flash for 3 days now and what a great investment (so far). The comparable Canon Ring Flash is close to $500. Still have some playing around and learning to do with it, but I am loving it so far. This Wasp built a nest right outside my front door so it gave me a chance at some practice anytime I want. :-) Anyway, this is one of the early shots using this new flash, Rotated 180 as it was hanging upside down. So nice to KNOW what the flash results are going to be each shot and not having to construct some DIY Diffuser for the Ext. flash. Shot at 100 ISO this flash has more than enough power for some nice macro shots. OK, enough of my babbling. Thanks for looking. Bruce

Worth every penny ,what ever it cost! I have a ring flash for my film camera kit.( Sad that none of that will get used ever again) It's wonderful to see those tough mandibles that they use for butchering other insects. I have watched them dismembering bumble bees in my flowerbeds. FAB, Bruce!
