Description

Here's a couple quick screen captures of the famous "castle" ruins at Haha Tonka state Park, near Camdenton, Missouri. You can get more information about Haha Tonka HERE. This was the Phantom's first flight today - it went up twice before the battery ran out. I will be putting a video together when we get home. I might do another flight tomorrow morning before we head back to KC. I had several spectators for this flight. You hear so much blather in the media about how 'annoying' people find it when someone flies a "drone" around a public park like this. I have not found this to be the case - at least not so far. What I've found is that folks are fascinated and curious. When I brought the Phantom in for a landing next to the castle, they even broke out in a round of applause! Anyway it was a fun day, we got lots of photos, and had a great time. I'll be working on several projects when we get home - including the TNA Pinup and of course page 25. Hope everyone is having a great weekend - and a big Happy Birthday to Steve (eekdog) - you young rascal, you! LOL

Hey, WOW Rod! This is really COOL! Looks like a rather small castle though. I shall have to look that up and learn more about it. Fantastic POV. Glad to hear people were cool about it. Thanks for sharing.

Great shots from the Phantom Rod, I didn't realize you had "Castles" in the States thought it was more a English /Europe thing.. but then I guess the Brits were there too. So cool would love to see them in person they have always fascinated me.. Looking forward to seeing more of the Girls too..

Fantastic shots! Gives you a whole different perspective of the place, and a lot neater than just glancing at the map.

Fine Phantom photos Rod. You certainly can get perspectives few of us other mere mortals cannot:) Liked the link to the history of the park too...poor Snyder didn't get to enjoy his fabulous place for long.

Yay!!! applause for pilot These are amazing shots! Half the battle with a new toy is figuring out how to use it in a meaningful way, rather than just as something to mess around with. You seem to have got that down pat. Wonderful pictures!

Awesome mate, great looking shots! Just got my first very entry level USV a little micro quadcopter with onboard HD camera. Figure I'd start here and work my way up to something like a Phantom.

I really see the possibilities wit a cam like this, Rod! Great capture showing fine details of an overview of the ruins. As late as a month ago a phantom near Copehnhagen International Airport in Denmark created some panic as it flew in range and heights near it not allowed. I have thought of buying one but I'm afraid i quickly will get a fine.. :o(
