Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Superb lovely flower

So jealous. Maybe that's why ours are so quiet. They sit in the shade most of the time.

That outer cup shape with the riot of petals inside is a lovely form. I can see why you like her so much!

Loverly color and tortuous petal configurations in this pic of your fav camellia, Andrea. And, an Elsie Jury to me means a panel of twelve cows, sitting in judgement of the accused at a trial.

Like Elsie too...and your subtle postwork pops her right out for us to see.

Lovely flower.

A beautiful camellia, perfectly photographed. You must have green fingers, with you all the plants seem to thrive very well.

Beautiful flower.... you have captured it wonderfully.

A beautiful shot, with the flower and leaves facing directly at us (there doesn't appear to be much angle). And your postwork, though subtle, turns the surfaces into a collection of very finessed carved surfaces. I think the flower is postwork-free, or at least largely postwork-free; but the surrounding is postworked by contrast, with wonderful bold flat small surfaces, while the whites (as a result of those surfaces) beams out wherever it's present. I love what you've done with the buds on the right (if those are buds); and the white all over the right-side leaves looks like luscious paint spilled all over them. A wonderful collection, and the flower itself jumps out of the composition in a burst. Love your combined postwork pieces---they work so naturally. I've never tried that, but boy you do it wonderfully. This is beautiful.
