Description
Captured, not at the Renaissance Faire held at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale last month, but the one held back on 11/7/10, at the Felicita County Park, 742, in Escondido, California. This was the first Faire I ever attended, and was nowhere as crowded as the recent Irwindale show. The days were shorter, and the sun was relatively low at that time of the year, which created too much eye level brightness, a problem I spent considerable time digifiddling with on the pics.
Anyway, I assume that's a falcon that the lady is lecturing our small assemblage about. I can't recall now after all this time. In any event, a handsome predator, it is/was.
Adieu.

I'm surely wouldn't forget a bird like that in a lifetime ;o] and as i'm sure she takes very good care of him... would prefer seeing him free!

Both woman and bird have similar red markings...but I'll bet the bird's is real:) Three nice views of this period pair.

I see what you mean about the brightness; that kind of light really bothers my eyes. You did well considering that problem! And as far as the falcon, what a stunningly regal bird--look at those talons! She's so incredibly lucky he allows her to hold him, and she must do a good job of caring for him, as he looks in excellent condition. How fun to see him up close! Great work Harry!

Nice captures of the woman in 3 poses with her bird. Montage-wise, she looks to our right, then our left, and then to our right again---the last one, she looks straight into the falcon: a nice sequence. Difficult light to work with, yes: November light can be a major challenge. But you got a lot of contrast of hue and light/dark, and the shadows from her hat are beautiful. (I assume SW November light is richer than our northern Nov light, because our Nov light is more bluish black and white---this is anything but.) You got a lot of character in this woman; and the bird's features are vivid and strong. And, with Denise, those are some talons---esp in the last shot, where you capture his left talons in full view, and they're really digging in! That's why bird trainers were gloves the thickness of a sidewalk: Those talons can rip the flesh off. Vivid closeups of a vivid pair of creatures, one human, one avian; with very real candid expressions. And btw, your green borders in between the pics set off the green in the shots. FIne choices all around.
