Description

Yeah, still here, just buried in work... coming up end of financial year and wanting to crack every bit of production out of our plant possible..such is the demand from the USA! Rob, you too have your fair share of issues at the mo', but mate, like the old bird above: keep 'yer tail up!! Anyway no renders :( .. Trixie and crew are getting restless, but no time... so I thought I would throw up one I prepared earlier... This ain't Duxford, but the venerable Douglas DC-3 in RNZAF colours, taking off from Ardmore Aerodrome in Auckland, and can always been seen out on scenic flights if the weather is fine on the weekend..( usually flies over our house!!.) What amazed me with this take off run, was that she can't had advanced more than 50yards before the tail came up and lift off was shortly after taking this photo... I'm slowly catching up with everybody's posts over the past coupe of weeks.. I will get there, promise, lol

This was my very first model airplane my dad got for me at Christmas. I think I was seven. It has always been one of my favorite piston engine planes. You are right about the take-off. They seem to just ever so gently take to the sky. Effortlessly and quickly. Fun to watch!

I've always loved the DC-3 - it just looks like an airplane ought to look... Good to see a few of the old 'goonies' still flying! A really great shot of this classic, Martin!

It's often surprising to see what those old planes are capable of. Great shot!

I use to see so many C47's as a child on their way to Douglas and also as passenger carrier (DC3). up to just a few years ago they were using one for aerial photography superb photograph

This is a beautiful sight no matter what the tail markings. Maybe the tail came off the gound early because there were no heavyweights sitting in the back lol! On a flight back from Maui to Oahu some years ago on a Beechcraft, I think, the pilot (who was also the load master) shifted his flying passengers around to fit the weight distribution on his aircraft!
