Description

Yes is is dieing out slowly. The Cajun culture used to have lot of people who could speak french. no not the french like in France but is was a french. I met a man my age and he told me at six year old he went to school and he just knew french. the teachers would get after him if he spoke french. it was hard on him and many other kids. They got whip or got a ruler across the back of the hand. So they had to learn English. Now there is a small movement to teach people french here but it not going well. even the Cajun music is fading slowly into history. this is four feet by four feet acrylic painting . this is what i been painting and just finish it about 45 minutes ago.. it is close to the colors. I do not have a car to bring it to the place I most the time bring to take my photos. Guess i need to set up a place here at my house. note the sign on the left and also the window which have a sunset in it . plus the music note stand which do not have any paper on it. oh and the man is not reflex in the widow

Tremendous and very meaningful work, my friend! Absolutely fascinating history about the loss of the local language there. I know it's a language completely unto itself. That's what happens. Cultures get poured into the blender. I remember when I was little my grandmother didn't speak English. Here in this part of Pennsylvania, the Irish arrived first. They taught the eastern Europeans to speak English when they came later. It wasn't to be mean. It was to teach them to fit in. And that's the cultural blender, I guess. I only speak English. But I have so many friends from France here on Rendo I would love to learn French. What a beautiful, beautiful language. But, sorry I go on so long. Very, very impressive painting, Jock!!!!!

Beautiful painting Jocko! Sorry to hear you don't have a car to move all your fine work to the show! Wish there was a solution for you! Also a sad development about the eroding of cultural heritages in the US of A. A most alarming development!

Bad if other cultures are not accepted and it finally comes to the extent that they are threatened with extinction. What is extinct once, not coming back ... This is almost the same as with monarchies ... A beautifully detailed image. It must have cost you big troubles, realize everything photorealistic. Grandiose painting! You are very talented!

Parley voo Francay? Gad, I wish the French had conquered Mexico instead of the Spanish. Since I live in North Mexico (officially Southern California) I really get tired of hearing Spanish and seeing their signs. In any case, a super acrylic painting of the Cajun with the squeeze box, Jock.
