Description
Dangerous and dirty work, captured through a chain link fence on 5/21/14, early morning, at our local freeway I5 widening project, which has been in process for several months already, and moving rapidly due to our drought conditions, resulting in no rain to impede its progress.
I've got tons/tonnes of freeway widening and equipment pics taken over the months, just waiting to be posted, and languishing in several files.
Whatever you do, please ZOOM.

AHA! So they DO work on these sites! We have "destruction" sites all over the place, bridge widening, freeway widening, etc etc etc, but rarely, if ever, do you see anyone working there. They tear it up and it sits, for years sometimes, before miraculously one day being finished. I think they use magic. Wonderful captures, Harry, proving that there is life in construction!

Wow, I feel I could fall INTO this thing...In zoom, we really feel the impact of your gradual closing-in. it's quite impressive. And the monotonous sameness of these sites really comes home in this montage. There's quite a bit of visual variation, but the predominant thing is that gridded wall; and it's formidable in these shots. The man really is engulfed by it all, as you caught the sense of scale of these things. I'm sure he's secured, but I get vertigo looking at him...Really fine shots of this, Harry, and the montage takes us in until we're almost dizzy looking at him surrounded by nothing but sheer wall and all those cubby holes. A scene a lot of people would ignore, but you nailed it on the head. Very strong stuff.
