UPDATED: September 19, 2010
Hi, My name is Bill and I am updating my homepage to reflect a wonderful event in my life...marriage, September 18, 2010, to my best friend Tara...known to many of you as auntietk here on Renderosity.
We "met" shortly after I joined Renderosity in August 2008. We share a love for photography and indeed all types of art.
We live north of Seattle and enjoy getting to share photographic excursions and information with other Renderositians ( is "Renderositians" even a word? ). LOL
As for me, it seems like I've been taking pictures all my life but I didn't get serious enough to purchase my first Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) camera until May 2008. In May 2009 I upgraded from an Olympus E-510 to an Olympus E-30 with a wide variety of lenses.
My subject areas of interest include absolutely everything but with a frequent return to airplanes, cars, tanks, etc., ...or as Tara says, machines that make lots of noise;-)
If you are curious, I am pictured above in a Grumman Corsair on a taxiway of the Kansas City Downtown Airport. I used to fly and train others to fly airplanes. That will explain my frequent forays into the world of aviation. Last but by no means least, thanks to Pannyhb for introducing me to Renderosity. The moment I saw it I was hooked.
Fine print: Yes, the photo above is a photo manipulation:-)

The golden light on the water, at that oblique angle, is absolutely stunning. Well done, playing is very good!!!

Reminds me of those sunny summer evenings when it was time to pack down and go home. A last look at he shore line with the kelp and ripples sand. Then home, warm, sun burned and tired. Good to eat a little and then to bed. Thanks for the memories. I always marvelled at the complexity in such a simple scene - the shifting contrasts - some are deep, others scarcely noticeable, and some transparent. Good work in noticing the details here! Keep up the good work! :-)

Stellar lighting effects enhance the wave action and contrast in this fine beach shot, Bill. And those dark mini isles remind me of whales or submarines heading out to sea. Plus, I sure wish I had the wherewithal of Claude in creating his amazing Fractal concepts. Maybe I'll give it a go sometime, even at my old age.

This is just superb, Bill! The light and wonderful textures seem to invite you yo reach out and feel the wet, slippery surface of the kelp. This is brilliant!

I'm glad you decided to post this. It's an outstanding shot, with its angles, composition in threes, and the brilliant light picking out every ripple in the sand. Love it!

I guess I'm gonna need some eyeglasses... when I saw the thumbnail, I thought there are islands captured while flying! Well seen, great shot!

When Tara says "I'm glad you decided to post this," does she mean you hesitated? (I've hesitated on my posts more than you wanna know.) Well, if you did hesitate, I'm so glad you posted it: It's splendid. First, yes Claude is a relentless explorer of the worlds around him, and he peers into so many processes and coaxes out beautiful light and texture and music. If he inspired you with this, terrific. That being said, this is a Bill image through and through. The balance of intense activity with sweeps of little activity. The fine and finessed detail. The mix of strong highlight with more restful surrounding hues. I could go on. The simplicity of (I assume) seaweeds, breaking up the silty flow of a river (am I close?) make a gently rhythmic image, with a feeling of life flowing on quietly, and parts of it coming to the fore strongly. You got a lot of small waves throughout---mud-based perhaps---and your light on the top halves of these "islands" is scintillating. This is beautiful, Bill. A closeup of process, with islands and water, and a deep muddy gray that's as restful as a quiet flowing river. A gentle beauty. I've utterly forgotten to fav you or Tara this time around. So rather than go back and do it, just know that all of these are marvelous, and a 'fav' wouldn't do them justice. (And I have no idea why, but I just thought of some delivery person knocking on your door, and saying, "Fav, from Mark, Sir!" And they hand it to you and leave. Like the old Western Union flower deliveries. I have no idea why that came up, but I like the idea. You'd take the fav, tip the guy---come on, he came all the way from downtown!---open it up, and then say, "no comment??? just a fav??? Cheap son of a ____" And you'd throw it away. Scene from a story about digital living...)
