to check on the kids. This is the smaller parent, so I assume it's dad.- if it holds that raptor males are the smaller.

The mother, eh? Good shot. Would be better if lightened just a little.

I take your point about lighting, I think my moodiness results in darker images! Both parents visit the nest, this is the smaller of the two (but not by much), so I assumed being a raptor, it was the father.
