Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!Â
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper! Â
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

My kids used to watch Will O the wisp on TV narrated by the extraordinary and very very clever Kenneth Williams

A wonderful sketch. I like the free flowing feel of the landscape and the little plant creature who apparently has Jazz Hands.

I love seeing your doodles and sketches! This guy has attitude and a sense of grace, and leaves me smiling and delighted! As far as I know we don't have a show here that's comparable, so I don't know your young friend, but I'm enjoying him all the same!

So funny, Andrea! This guy, he sure walks on Clocks; and another question : who is it which he has on the line?

I didn't know there was a show of that name, but I know it's an old folk figure who lights up the forest and carried hay or plants or something. ("Wisp" in this case meant some kind of stalks that I assume were lit? Something like that?) (In Latin, it's called an "ignis fatuus" which means "foolish light," I think, but I just like the sound of the term. "Ignis fatuus! Behold---Ignis Fatuus! Now be gone!") Anyway, your drawing has luminous greens and even grays---they have light in them. And they're light as opposed to heavy, too. And Will is a delightful, stringy, sinewy lad, with shortpants and heavy boots. And the dog is even stringier, a wiry old beast who wants to run and get into things. And a delightful mound of bushes back there. And those broad bright strokes of green and gray and pink...delightful. A real doodle in the best sense. And I even like the holes and rings in the paper---they fit perfectly. Delightful. You can doodle anytime, as far as I'm concerned! It just flows out of you like thought. A little cartoon dance.

A lovely St. Patty's day doodle - don't ask me why - it just popped into my head!
