Description
A bright spot on an otherwise grey sort of day on The Mersey. The Cunard liner Queen Victoria arrived this morning on the high tide. She is here to mark the maiden voyage from Liverpool to New York by the Cunard line 100 years ago. Her 2 day visit is expected to attract up to 60,000 visitors and her departure will be marked by a huge fireworks display......and I'm on nights this weekend :-( Still, I'll have my camera and maybe I'll catch her sailing out past the The Fort Perch Rock....I'll let you know.
Worth a zoom, lost a bit of detail I'm affraid, had to reduce this to 1/3 original size and drop a few pixels before Rendo was happy....
It's quite mind boggling to think that next June (2015) she will be back, along with Queen Mary 2 AND Queen Elizabeth, all in one place......that's a lot of steel.

Hiya Neil, Nice! For next year that will also be a lot of history, three ships named after three queens.... Well done.

Fantastic photo! Even having reduced it, it has excellent detail. With all three of those ships in harbor at once next year, I bet the sea level in the port will rise considerably. Happy hunting for the exit photo.

This is awesome Neil and the mere mention of the Cunard Line is enough to give seafaring folks wet dreams. You may need to take a sickie :)

I had the opportunity to see the Queen Mary in Portland, Maine when it was there a few years ago. You don't really appreciate the size of it until you get to see it in person. So impressive.

Now, that IS worth a shot.. All three.. Cunard, a name so British... But mostly foreign owned.. Bollocks isn't it mate.. Like all things 'British' it ain't! Those days are gone, Blame Blair, Cameron, Brown and the like for that.. They should learn a simple word, its called 'NO!'.. And grow some! But..... you still gotta take a sicky! LOL Good one! Rob
