Description

Had my old Olympus E510 out of the drawer the other day, just to try it out with the Macro lense. Now I remember why I stopped using it. I take atleast 10 shots, before it decides to focus on the object and I cant understand why.It wont even click. It simply blocks and the battery was full of power. All settings are ok, and still it wont focus, before I get cramps in my back or my fingers. I wish i know what the reason could be. But after Many many attempts I got a few flower macros. Full size is more interesting. Have a lovely rest of the weekend. :) Not much change of the weather. Thank you for viewing and commenting.

What a revelation! You can understand why insects are so attracted to the centres!

Mighty nice detail and color Helle. Based upon my E-510 experiences it sounds like your autofocus just couldn't see the flower well enough to get a lock on it. My E-510 was pretty good but I know some were not so good. The fix for this is to shut off autofocus (AF) and use manual focus (MF). This is more work but it solves the problem.

Too bad it took so long, but gosh ... the result is fabulous! What a gorgeous photograph! Doesn't it make you want to break out your paints? :)

Superb capture Helle. If you have manual focus on this camera make use of it as Bill suggested. God bless.

A super image Helle. Good advice from Bill but what I find is that if I stand back a little and take a more open view I can achieve the result I want in photoshop.

You got some good advice. That was 'my' camera too---my first DSLR! But it's been so long since I've had it, I wouldn't know what to tell you, technique wise. (I'm sure bill's advice is first rate, since he used it for years.) BUT...This pic's a revelation, no matter what problems you had. The blur on the left is perfect, because it's balance to the blast of the center, and that eye-bending blue on the right. The details on the right blues are like a fruit-ice dessert. They're delectable. And that center? First of all, it looks like a pitted green olive sitting on top of a slice of mango! But since it's NOT that, it's just wonderful how that yellow spills out---your colors here are boomingly full. And that green thing---I don't know what it is, but it's great in that center, sitting there looking edible. And those white furry things on either side of it---like big ostrich feather scarves?---your mix of focus with non focus is gorgeous here. And those white speckles in the lower portion...an amazing blast of stardust. Flowers are the sexual organ of the plant, so let's just say this pansy's dressed to the hilt to pick up some dudes! An amazing macro. And I'm telling you, it looks like an opulent frozen dessert. (The least you could've done was include some spoons...) Beautiful flower work, Helle!
