Description

Captured today, 5/31/14, early morning, on what is the work in progress onramp of our local I5 freeway widening project. Just more stuff that I pick up out of the gutter and/or muck and mire in order to post on Renderosity. I hope it's appreciated. These are the same work gloves, the first pic showing them when I first found them lying in the shade, and the bottom shot where I put them in the sunshine for light and shadow effects. I try hard not to be finicky, but in this case, I soaked my hands in bleach after I got home. Adjo.

Aha! The undead gloves. I prefer mud to bleach, btw, as I have very delicate skin.

My first thought was that someone had lost their hands; I'm twisted that way, I guess. Fantastic clarity and detail in these shots of the well-used gloves, Harry. The shadows are a bonus!

I've gone back to where I left off, in case you wonder why I skipped backwards again... Yes, johndoop has it. And lol Denise---someone lost their hands? That's imagination! I can suggest---and I'm serious now---take some latex medical gloves in your camera bag or pocket. They scrunch up perfectly in the pocket---the cheap thin ones. If you take a few in your pocket, whenever you want to pick something up, you'll have protection. I suggest it, given your unique eye as a photographer (ie that you shoot decayed objects). Or bring a small bottle of rubbing alcohol, and just clean your hands with it---you only need one "pour"---and then go on. Tools of the trade, just like jungle photographers bring insect repellant, or rain forest photographers bring ponchos. Just a suggestion...Anyway, this is another wonderful dialogue with the rejected paraphernalia of the world. Because you gave them both in the same direction and similar layouts, we get to compare them. The top is softer in light, and the gloves are like discarded ghosts. Also, they seem to be a pair, but one has a yellow band while the other has red elastic with I think a dark band. Fascinating pair! But you transform them in the 2d shot, letting them shine in strident tones via that early light. And you let the light shine on the grime---in zoom, they become electric. Fine work on this. Your deceased gloves and shoes are becoming genuine series; and while a lot of photographers don't shoot these things, they're missing a lot because these are endlessly fascinating and always offering new views into decay, clutter, light and shade, etc. You turn them into art. When one considers these are from the same artist who does all those beautiful flower shots, they'll realize your art has no prejudice. Most commendable.
