What a comfortable looking house: I know it's not actually a house for dwelling, but in terms of that other place where interesting non-local people live, this is a house. Maybe the town librarian lives there, or some such person. I love it when images trigger thoughts like that: the whole point of art, at least for me, is to trigger associations, to interact with the viewer in some way: small or large doesn't matter. Art that implies something intimate is even more satisfying, and this is quite intimate. It's architecture, but architecture is intimate in that it's human: made by humans for humans...one can't get much more intimate humanity (well...members of any species can do that with their own species.) I really like the treatments of this image: it has a dream-like quality, which adds to the sense of intimacy conveyed here. It's like something seen through someone's mind rather than just with the eyes alone. Though many people view the eye (the construction of the eye) as miraculous, it's still just a receptor, but the mind connected to the eye is the miracle; and no two minds are exactly alike. And that's where art comes in: it's one mind's way of revealing itself. And that's immensely fascinating. All of that is to say, I really like this: I like the way that you see and the things you pick to show us. Architecture implying humanity: humanity implying minds (at least one) and all of it combined into a single, moving, somewhat mysterious image of a place a building that may be a house, may be something else...but there it is, in all of its glory, revealed through the filters of an active, perceptive mind. Yeah, this is superb!

Delightful find. It looks like the architect was possibly influenced by nordic stave churches. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stave_church I love the design. I was playing with building a mead hall in a game I play based on the design. Perhaps I will post a screenshot when i find time.

High key and high contrast textural effects burst from this remarkable pano of what reminds me of a winter getaway up in the mountains, Mark, made even more remarkable when viewed via zoom. Another one of your world famous black and whites on display. And, isn't this where Mafia dons congregate when there is an issue to be resolved?

The building has that comfortable human scale which for me is so attractive. I do love this style you have developed.

These high-key graphic black-and-whites really grab me, Mark; I love how it isolates the curves (the stones, the leaf clumps) and pits them against the straight angles of the roof and pillars... The darkness of the "house" balances that soaring white rooftop, and it all blends really magically into a compelling image. Kudos!

I really like the way this dances between abstraction & realism. The whole image is clearly representational & I like all the architectural details & the balance & contrast of light & dark that you have going on here. But if I focus on different parts of the image, it seems to be made up of abstract components - like the roof with it's patches of white or the trees with their blurry gray tone patterns. Visual alchemy...

Oddly enough, this somehow reminded me of an old house I saw on Tybee Island, Georgia. It must be the style, but whatever it is, you caught the wonderful sense of beauty and how just a thing made of stone and rock and wood becomes a thing of art.

The first thing that struck me was the clean lines, like a drawing, juxtaposed with the unexpected softness around the front door. The unremitting black against the unrelenting white, and then those subtle grays tap me on the shoulder and say, "yes, and look over here, okay?" Contrast and balance, structure and comfort. It's superb!

Mark, first of all let me say that I very much enjoyed this presentation. This architectural study is indeed an interesting one, and as with all of your work very well done. This little structure is filled with amazing detail, and I sit here and admire the finely crafted slopes and curves throughout. While it can be said that the entire house is a work of art, for myself the entryway is what I find most intriguing. The complex design sets this little house apart from most all others you will see.

A very interesting contrast of delicate and strong. I like the way the structure is seen through the intricate leaves of that giant tree. And those stone pillars, almost like totem poles of shapes and textures. An intriguing building and great photo.

Fantastic capture and motif, Mark. This is one of the most beautiful roof constructions i have seen in a long time. Especially the roof detail that integrate the main door. Pure art in architecture.
