Description

Happy Birthday, Lucinda! This is the window above where I sit at the PC, East facing and filled with light in the mornings. Face the sun and all the shadows fall behind you!

Is it a real painted window, or it's covered with film? Either way, it looks great!

It is Stained Glass and leaded, 1923, the year the house was built.

A gorgeous window and just slightly asymmetrical which I assume was deliberate. A wonderful dedication for Lucinda and a great sentiment.

I remember that window, and had captured it myself, then lost the entire holiday photos in HD failure, what a pisser!

Haven't we seen this in other pictures? It looks very familiar. In any case, it's a beautiful shot with total clarity, and that beautiful light dissolving parts of the upper flower-heart petals. And the stuff behind---it looks like your inimitable postwork! It could just be the glass doing what it does, but it has a lot in common with your postwork. Love the way all those colors come in, from behind. A beautiful image for Lucinda, and Happy Birthday Lucinda, and many more! It's nice enough, Andrea, that you have all this beauty around you, but all the nicer that we get to share it day after day. A beautiful birthday dedi for a wonderful lady.

It's a beautiful window, and a wonderful birthday dedi for Lucinda! Oddly enough, it's the stem, with its classic Nouveau look, that grabs my attention the most. Delightful!

A beautiful leadlight window, I do like the upside-down red heart shape - some resemblance there to the 'Bleeding Heart' vine flowers (Lamprocapnos spectabilis) ... Tara took the words right out of my mouth - very Art Deco/Nouveau style, which I love so much ... BB

How marvelous to start the day with glass and light at play! Beautiful window and capture. I love the way the light accentuates the ripples and patterns of the glass. I can see the motion of the light as it shines strongly through one leaf, just brushes the one next to it, and gives a convex appearance to the upside-down heart. Watching the light travel across the surface of the SG window would distract me no end. But a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable distraction. I love what the glass is doing to the objects behind too. My favorite bit is the ball with the smaller ball perched atop of it. I love seeing your beautiful and interesting home, and your SG window is wonderful! When I speak to people of my impressions from the time I spent in England, invariably the subject of light will come up. I have so many memories where I was struck by one quality or another of the light there. My favorite experience, was of light breaking through heavy cloud cover and causing the trees, and buildings to sparkle against the dark backdrop. I lived not far from the Cotswolds and golden stone lit up against a dark sky stays etched in my memory. Thank you for this beautiful image and great quote. I'm afraid here in south Texas, the sun can be a little bit on the overly industrious side. The shadows don't fall as much as run in total panic and hide in cracks and under cars. lol. But the sentiment breathes true, even if the Texan sun goes a little overboard.

PS: Always go to the light, avoid the shadows, as the warmth and shelter of the shadows will keep you there far too long and delay your journey. Advice from the Tibetan Book of the Dead, for the journey after death. Seems to me it applies to the journey in life as well.
