Hi, I'm Andrea, and I'm interested in creatures and plants both wild and tamed, and people of all sorts. I only use a compact digital camera ,as I love being able to get it into a back pocket, and not have to cart heavy kit about. I carry a Panasonic Lumix TZ series, binoculars and a hand lens almost everywhere. Most of my outings are with the dogs so I only use point and shoot.
I am getting the hang of Photoshop, thanks to some very kind folk on RR!
I have a wildlife garden in Bournemouth, Dorset, in the UK, and spend a lot of time there . I retired from teaching art to teenagers a while ago.
I'm now getting some good results with my digi compacts; it took me a while to make the switch from my old film camera, an 1960 ish Pentax Spotmatic, but the mistakes are much cheaper!
I have 4 lodgers, 3 dogs and a parrot who, as at 2017, I have had 40 years.
I has so far had 19 dogs, mostly rescues.

Lovely shot Andrea, I love these because as a child I remember fishing a pond in Epping Forest in the 70's with my late father and these were everywhere in all colours possible, it was a delight to see.... colours from memory were blue, red, green, yellow and white to remember some.

A clear capture of this little beauty!

These lovely winged creatures seem to know which plants make them look best. I can imagine them thinking, "My long body type will be best on these broad, striated leaves. I'll hang out here today and look fabulous!"

Nice shot, I like the shadow too!

Working on a suntan no doubt. They are rather showy. An excellent capture.

Another of your insect shots on tall stalks, perfect for the damselfly. The long body casts a long shadow, and it's beautiful against that tall sheer leaf. In crops like these, the fly looks like it's fine so long as nothing disturbs its perch. Basking in the light, and hopefully not swaying too much. A scintillating capture with those "high rises" of leafs to hold onto. And scintillating detail on its head, body, wings, limbs, etc. (Whoever invented the insect had an amazing mechanical mind!)

The Order Odonata has to be filled with the most fabulous of creatures! This one is ever so lovely!

A fine Damselfly portrait and glad to see Jeff is up and running again. £40 isn't bad - they want more than that ($75 or £47) just to come through the front door!
