Description

Have you ever seen baby eagles? Here is your chance.. check out this eagle cam.. http://www.hancockwildlife.org/index.php?topic=white-rock-eagle1 Note.. this isn't really art as I started with a screenshot from the site I linked. It's closer to a photo manip than anything I suppose. (Mind you, there are about 30 odd layers in the construction of the image and it took quite a bit of patience and luck to get just the right screenshot.) I just wanted to share the site with you all :) P.S. There is a forum thread for this nest with tons of screenshots others have posted.. this is some of the more recent ones.. http://www.hancockwildlife.org/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=565206&mode=&show=8&page=1481 I hope that helps for people who couldn't see the cams.

Really good treatment. It's like a really detailed watercolour. Very nice. Eagle cam sounds good. I've been watching some British bird's nest recently - Goldfinch - Nightingale - Tawny Owl - Bittern etc.

Well now, lots of work went into this stellar rendering of the sharp eyed eagle and its eaglets, all safely ensconced and resting in their aerie, dragonmuse.

I also couldn't get the original shot, but I did go to the hancockwildlife site (thanks for the links) and saw lots of shots like it. So I can sense what you worked with. You got a lot of canvas-like effects, and cross-hatching throughout, and an intense texturing that makes the birds not only feel like a painting, but like an intense dream of the birds. And you used that many layers? I'm impressed. That sounds very long and exacting, to coordinate layer after layer and blend them the way you want. I blend, but my results usually aren't loyal to the original image (as I mostly leave the original behind). But to go through all those layers, and maintain the essence of the original, is hard work. Also, strong whites here as highlights, as well as the cross hatch all over. And I like the whites along the edges, vignetting the piece sweetly. Always thoughtful work from you, Sandy. And thanks for the link on stave churches. I'd seen pics of them before, but never known what they were or where they came from. They're amazing structures, just amazing. I'm tempted to draw one. And yes, the cottage I photographed does have a similar feel, in the broad overhanging roof, and the deep shadows it produces. They're so primal. Thanks again for introducing me. And as always, your comments are wonderful, and it's great to see an upload from you!

Too late at night to watch the eagle cam .. but did enjoy the screen captures. What you've done with this screen capture is wonderful! it has wonderful painterly quality, and a great sense of depth.

Wonderful capture and motif, Sandy. Absolutely love it. We have 2 eagle sanctuarys in Denmark. I have visited one of them, and seen baby eagles. It was great.
