Description
Captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
Well, here it is, folks, what I promised you yesterday, all naked to the world. What the lovely ladies were actually applauding, or, to be more accurate, keeping beat to with the music, comes to light as these talented terpsichoreans went through their elegant dance routine. A real crowd pleaser. I have no clue as to what this dance is called: allemande, blanle, cotillion, courante, galliarde, gavotte, quadrille, rigadoon, Scotch reel......maybe even the danse macabre. Way beyond my ken.
I like that jolly lecherous roue in the bottom photo kissing the hand of the comely lass as the dance came to an end. What a ham.
Oh, and sorry to disappoint the pro-hanging viewers as to what the tavern wenches and milkmaids were applauding yesterday. Kind of takes all the fun out of it. And even with trying to balance out the stark light and shadow, this is still high contrast. If it's overexposed, so be it.
Worth a ZOOM.
Ciao, baby.

Marvelous series of these dancers, Harry; yes, bright colours, clearly they wanted to be seen and remembered! Overexposed? I don't think that's really the proper term. You were shooting in very bright light, subjects in bright colours, really the lighting as portrayed is very good for these conditions. Any darker and you'd miss the expressions and details in the shadows. It's not the most ideal of conditions, and you had no choice about that. I think these are wonderful!

yes, with denise, you did a first rate job with difficult light, and the results are all joyous. Re the subject material: There were all kinds of group dances in the Renaissance, with names---as you show us---which are difficult to keep straight. You start with observers, and you end with 2 dance shots, where the big guy up front is looking away in the middle shot, and turning back (and kissing the lady) in the last---good montage work! Also the middle shot has the women with arms extended, while the last shot has the men kissing or holding them. A joyous collection, and you got the feel of those line dances. They must've looked just like this. And you know what? The big guy up front, in shot No. 2 looks like Tevye, from Fiddler on the Roof! A most unlikely find in Renaissance England (Jews were expelled from England earlier.) I'm expecting him to break out with "If I were a rich man..." More terrific human captures. Good angles on this too, and a fine sequence. What a great looking bunch. A total delight.
