Description
Captured way back on 12/11/05, at the beautiful Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, located on the north campus of beautiful California State University Long Beach, in Long Beach, California.
Last night I found a ton of files taken back in late 2005 of the Gardens. Unfortunately, this was before I joined Renderosity and was snapping everything at a pathetic 640 x 480 resolution, just to save memory card space. I rue that decision to this very day. I've postworked many of these to a larger image, but am still not satisfied with the sharpness, especially on the one above. Hence, I decided to get out my palette, clean off my brushes and do it in acrylics style, at least for a change. Also, I found the late December lighting more to my liking so I will be posting more of the 2005 Garden photos as time goes by.
ZOOM a must.

Yes, very nicely done; looks like the lighting was a bit more filtered on that visit. Shades of van Gogh in the painterly effects, Harry. I like it!

Yes zoom's a must. (And I'm happy to see you got a lot of them.) Your treatment reminds us that sometimes problem-pieces inspire new approaches. I love the effect here. Yes, it's Van Gogh-like (denise), and it also feels like a very elaborate shag rug, where the flows of shag make all kinds of rivers. I love what you did with this, it's very clear and flowing, and it really brings out the drama and light/dark of the original. Some 2D people save their problem photos precisely for this kind of thing. (I do. Helanker does. Amazing what one can do with a problem photo.) These make terrific fodder for special treatments. You did a terrific job on this, and the flows all move in different directions, making this a collection of tide pools. Terrific treatment.
