Description
An exercise in whimsy, captured 4/27/14, at the beautiful Renaissance Faire, held at the beautiful Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, in semi beautiful Irwindale, California.
A picture of this handsome pair, taking a pause from the grand pomp and gaiety of this colorful but exhausting event (well, it was exhausting for me). They sat there for a long, long time, resting, often exchanging niceties with associates and visitors.
Au revoir.

A great candid, Harry. I can't help but notice how big most of these folk are, no shortage of food for sure.

you have made very spectacular series on this Renaissance Faire ! one could almost reconstruct characters, scenes and costumes in a lush newspaper 'Journey to the Renaissance'!

Another wonderful candid shot, Harry; these people all seem to be such "characters", no mere faces in the crowd at all. Well done capturing the colours and details in this bright sunlight!!

I'm supposed go be back a few days, but I can't stop here yet. This was one of the best portraits you've done from this series, and there were a lot of terrific portraits. What a joyous shot this is. The guy looks like he could be "Falstaff" from Shakespeare's plays, ie a big jovial clown of a man who everyone loves, while he drinks, slaps everyone on the back, sleeps around and generally loosens up every scene he's in. This is him resting with a restful smile on his face. His clothing is esp caught beautifully, the way it droops, slops over itself, and is in general bulging disarray. Terrific. Great front shot. And the lady has a great expression, someone more out of a New Orleans blues fest than Renaissance England; I love the engaged-talking-smile, and her hand gesture, and the way she slouches back, taking a load off. And those shoes! They're definitely not Renaissance, lol! (The guy's shoes could pass for it.) Sweet background, with a painting or two back there, and in a straight-on no-frills composition. You gave just what they need to set them off. This is terrific street photography, Harry. And I keep thinking, you weren't there for 3 months? They keep on coming! (I saw the one after this too, the super fun shot of people playing at pillories---I keep waiting for "Sorry ladies and gentlemen, but it's over!"). We'll have to go through postpartum when it's over. Terrific shot!

Erm....OK? Joke Harry? I must admit that while these costumes are stunning, everyone has made a great effort, these happy folks have way too many cokes and hot dogs! lol Rob
