Description
The vast empty plains of Montana are often called ‘Big Sky Country’. Montana has nothing on Iceland. When we did encounter human habitation it usually looked like this. A small settlement miles away from the nearest neighbor. It looked like an isolated and lonely existence but the people we met seemed to like it well enough. This is the home of Halla Steinólfsdóttir, organic farmer and sheepherder. She was an old friend of our tour guide Holm. Some places were so remote they had their own church.
Next we will go and see some sheep.

such isolation i feel you have to be born into, magnificently sparse

There is such a stark beauty in this landscape, I feel I could look at it forever. Well ... if it were just a bit closer to the conveniences of modern life, of course! Bleak distance close to town would be just about right for me. :)

Wow, is a very isolated life, I think, ¿How many people lives in a place like this?. I agree with auntietk.
