Hi, I'm Marilyn. Â I've been posting here on RR for a few years now and thought it was time to update my profile. Â It's been wonderful learning so much from the amazingly talented people here. Â I've had the chance to meet many in person and some have become great and good friends. Â Starting with a Kodak Brownie camera when I was about 7 or 8, moving up to Instamatics, Polaroids, then the Pentax K1000 that really got me on the way, I've been looking at the world thru a lens for a long time. Â Got the bug honestly; my dad was a photographer and gave me the gene!! Â Digital changed the world and I jumped in with both feet. Â You would've gone thru 100's of rolls of film in one day the way we can shoot and delete all day long. Â Progess...it can be awesome sometimes.
At any rate, RR rocks, the talent is over the top and I'm just gonna keep on shooting!!
Thanks for looking and keep those cameras rollin'!!
peace.....marilyn

A seemingly simple image with a lot going on. There are six distinct zones here that complement each other. Water at the bottom, the gulls, brown sand, gray sand, water and distant sky and bluffs. And its all offset by the wooden uprights. Very nice picture. I know Andrea will love this.

Interesting combination of Old Post and Birds. Aloha

The old posts are fish, spying on the gulls. (Periscopes.) (Ok, not funny.) A long daring shot, Marilyn, with nothing but shoreline, water, posts, some waves and sky, and gulls. That's all---a long sweep of a shoreline-life. Andrea's a lover of all things ocean-like---and from all the shots I've seen of the Columbia River here, it could just as well be an ocean!---so this'll be right up her alley. The posts actually almost seem like barbed wire fences in the background...One of your typically unexpected visions, focusing on things others pass by, and nicely layered in texture and hue. Happy Birthday Andrea, and many more!!! (You always say, Marilyn, that my lake and your ocean should meet one day: Well, this river and Andrea's ocean should meet one day too. Really nice image for Andrea!)

There seems to be one post for each seagull, LOL! Great capture, what a wonderful scene!

A pano replete with striations, occasionally dispersed with vertical poles, Marilyn. I like the innumerable gulls at the bottom, which adds to the composition. Andrea does and will appreciate this birthday dedication, reflecting her love of the beach and ocean as she does.
