Description

Part 1 of a 4 part story/poem The Fog The bar was claustrophobic with walls all pressing in; and with a drink too many now my head was in a spin. Deciding that while sitting there I looked a sorry sight, I lurched towards the doorway and plunged into the night. I walked the darkened city streets to get a breath of air, and wondered at the quiet, and the stillness everywhere. I paused a while to ponder this and find the reason why, when I sensed a movement with the corner of my eye. At first I thought my follower some lost and lonely dog, but then I saw the white and swirling tendrils of the fog. How strange I thought to have a fog around this time of year; and took a few steps backward as it kept on creeping near. It must have come in from the sea, and spread in from the bay; to swallow up the sleeping world standing in its way.
