Description

First time I have captured a Dance Fly. Cool looking creatures. Pretty small, about 6-9mm. Gotta love that head of big eyes and the proboscis gathering pollen. They also feed on other small flying insects from what I have read. Treat yourself and ZOOM!!!! Thanks for looking and any comments. -Bruce

Now there's something I don't see every day. I don't think I've ever seen one of these! What a find! I love the colors and the shape of this little person is quite fascinating. There's a whole lotta flight-muscle in that thorax! What a beauty!

I am so glad they eat pollen not human blood! That is a serious proboscis! In reply to your question about our little Scorpion flies, no they don't sting people.
