My name is Tara, and I was born and raised in Washington State.
Â
In 2010 I married Bill (bmac62) and retired ... two of the best choices I ever made! :)
Â
In March, 2013, we sold our home in Washington and went on the road in our RV full time. What a blast! There is so much world out there to see!
After traveling around the West for a few years, we got rid of the motorhome and are now spending winters in deep-south Texas and summers in Washington State. Spring and fall finds us visiting whichever place strikes our fancy at the time!

To hell with having his eye on me, I am more concerned with that beak, I have to hit Brazil nuts with a claw hammer. No fair!

I can't tell them apart, but if it was one of the two in the area to the right of the walkway into the bird habitat it would be Manduvi or Cocha, her mother. Payaso is usually on one of the stands further around in the little courtyard. They're all hams, and love attention and posing for pictures. Sometimes they will even talk to you, and it's hard to focus while you're laughing!

(Pining for the fjords? It's not pining---it's passed on! It is noooo more. It has ceased to be. THIS--is a late parrot!!...) Stunning crop and detail. This is a real Tara crop. If you didn't tell me what this was, I wouldn't know right away---though "bird" would come to mind in a minute or so. The eye looks like glass, the contrast of yellows and blues is stunning, the details on the feathers are like carved etched wood, and the join of the feathers over the beak is so visceral and clear, it's like sculpture. Beautiful work: A tara crop presented to its fullest. This is a terrific image. (It's a stiff! If ya hadn't nailed it to the perch, it'd be pushing up the daisies! It's met its maker and gone to the choir invisibule---this---is an ex parrot...)
